Colorectal cancer is cancer that develops in either the colon or rectum. Colorectal cancer is the third most common form of cancer in both men and women.

There are several risk factors associated with developing colorectal cancer. NorthShore University HealthSystem lists the risk factors as age, heredity, smoking alcohol consumption, a diet high in saturated fat and/or red meat, as well as inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables.
